Take Solace’s Bluegrass Adventure

10 Sep

Take Solace will be at the Bluegrass Adventure in Algoma, Wisconsin on Friday, September 14th at 5:00 PM. We’ll be playing for a good two hours on stage and the whole weekend around the campsites. There are a lot of people that we haven’t seen in a while and are anxiously awaiting jamming with them! (We’ll see you soon Eisenman and Banjo Dan).

So drive on up north and bring your tents and Jack – we’re gonna party bluegrass style!

On Saturday, April 14th 2007 Take Solace will be at John Harbor’s Main Street Coffee House in Menomonee Falls. We’ll play around 7PM or so. You can come and get a nice sandwich and drink some excellent coffee while you watch us play. They have beer and wine too. We’re planning on bringing little take home gifts for those that make it.

Here’s the address:

Take Solace to Appear at the Art Bar

26 Feb

Take Solace will be playing at the Art Bar in Riverwest again on March 24th around 8PM. They liked us so much that they are having us back. There will be a pub crawl going on in Riverwest so there should be a good crowd. We’ll probably have another original song or two to debut too (depending upon my workload until then).

Please show your support by showing up and bringing some friends. Take your camera too so we can get some cool pictures and post them up at takesolace.com/exhibitions/.

The Art Bar is pretty close to the corners of Humboldt and Burleigh – just go West (away from the lake) on Burleigh a couple of blocks from Humboldt and the Art Bar will be on the North side of the street.

Bluegrass Adventure Show – Friday 8PM

13 Sep

We got bumped up to 8PM on Friday for the Bluegrass Adventure Gig. This should make it easier for a lot of you to make it to the show. It’s at Booner’s Bar in Euren, WI so if you can get to Euren you can find Boomer’s bar. It’s the only thing in the town I hear.

We’re playing as Crabgrass. So buy a T-Shirt cause we’ll be on the back.

More information here, here, and on the BA site.

More On La Fiesta

22 Aug

La Fiesta de Gringo is fast approaching. It’s this Saturday already! The festival will start around 2:30pm and will be going strong for at least 12 hours until 2:30am. Crabgrass, Sweetheart Tripwire and other crazy compilations of musicians and artisans will be rocking all night long. Matt has been preparing for a while and will have plenty of drinks, food and fire to go around. He even has a logo:

La Fiesta De Gringo

Now isn’t that a special logo? It’s so.. gringish.

We’ll be camping out and cooking s’mores too. I’m going to try and beat my 12-s’mores-in-one-night record.

Invite all your friends, friend’s moms and friend’s mom’s moms. It’s a simple equation: more people = more rock!

Oh, and here’s some required reading for you. There will be a quiz.

La Fiesta De Gringo

25 Jul

We will be playing at another music festival in East Troy, Wisconsin on Saturday, August 26th called “La Fiesta De Gringo“. It’s going to be an outdoor concert with camping, fires and loud music. Sweetheart Tripwire has tentatively accepted the gig as well. I’ll keep everyone updated of who, what and when.

Ugly Duckling Open Mic

21 Jul

Last night Dave Pawl, Chris Lubinski and I played at an open mic night at the Ugly Duckling Pub in Oconomowoc. They have this jam fest every Thursday night from 7 until all the musicians get tired. There were a couple guys there that were just made to play their instruments – from a guy on a lap-steel to an award winning harmonica player to a saxophonist. A lot of mix-and-matching was done between people with some really groovy results. We played a couple songs together then I did a couple acoustic songs by myself that turned out all right.

The set up there is pretty good. Ron, the guy responsible for setting this all up, has all the equipment there so if you want to play you just have to show up. He’s got acoustic, electric and bass guitars, drums, and mics all ready to go. It’s a pretty nice setup and is especially convenient for those of us who have spotty equipment. I brought my Washburn ES335 copy and it cut out half way through a song on me – and in the process adding some juice to my vocals. We are known there as the “shocking lips” now – maybe we can be a Stones cover band…
